Summer ski in the Alps

SINCE (2)

If you thought skiing was to be enjoyed only in winter, think again. Summer is also an opportunity to enjoy all that a ski resort has to offer with the added bonus of never having to queue.  A choice of 3 summer skiing destinations await: Tignes, Val d’Isère  and Les 2 Alpes, all located in the Rhône-Alpes region.

TIGNES

Located in the Savoie departement, Tignes is, during winter, one of the biggest French ski resorts with its 154 slopes covering 300 km. The skiing area spreads from 1550m to 3450m high (5085 to 11 319feet). In summer, simple amateurs or professionals can enjoy 12 ski lifts and 20km slopes accessible by funicular, which will take them to the glacier at the heart of the resort, and it only 7 minutes. For the best snow, the sooner in the day the better!

The funicular opens at 7.15am, until 1pm.

As well as the normal slopes, you will also find some beginners slopes, snowpark for freestyle lovers, cross-country skiing path, and a panoramic terrace to enjoy the sun in this unique setting !

Prices from 26,5€ for half day, 1,2,6 and 3 non consecutive-days.

VAL D’ISÈRE

Really close to Tignes, the famous Val d’Isère is, every winter, home to the World Wide championship of Alpine Ski. The Glacier du Pissaillas, peak of the resort, offers snow conditions similar to the one in winter, and a summer sun to fully enjoy the ride. Get your ski pass at the glacier, between 7am and 12.15am. Shuttles circulate between the village of Val d’Isère to the glacier, in 45 minutes, for 34€ with ski pass included.

LES 2 ALPES

In Isère, 1,15 hour away from Grenoble, the ski resort Les 2 Alpes was one of the first ski resorts to open in the summer in the 50s. This year, from 18 June, everybody is welcome from 7am to 12.30 to enjoy the 17 ski lifts going from 2900 to 3600m high (9514 to 11811 feet). While you’re on the top, take a moment to admire the view over of the biggest glacier in Europe. The snowpark is only open for ski club members, but it’s your chance to see future champions in training ! Starting from 39.30€ for 1 day.

Please note that the opening of the ski resort depends on the weather and can change along the season.
