Atout France and France Montagnes launch 2026/27 winter season

The mountains of France are ready for another sparkling winter season that promises a wealth of ski and non-ski activities, accessibility for all, greener resorts and varied accommodation, following a vibrant Winter Launch at The Light Bar, London, on 8 September. The event welcomed 40 journalists to hear the latest news from the French ski industry, presented by headline sponsor France Montagnes alongside 18 exhibitors.

At the Launch, media guests networked with the attending resorts over champagne, canapés and boards of cheese and charcuterie. Suppliers ESF and Club Med also joined the delegation, with Club Med’s newly appointed Director for the UK market, Jeremie Hoss, in attendance. Guests sat down to one-to-one meetings as well as hearing a presentation by Atout France to discover the latest updates for the coming winter season.

France’s ski areas are reinventing themselves to combine comfort, enjoyment and accessibility, as well as to encourage year-round use. A number of lift additions and improvements can be enjoyed this winter, as well as new and quirky accommodation options. Non-ski activities are also a key focus, with a range of unique experiences on offer, from joining ski patrols and piste groomers behind the scenes to learning about snowmaking and trying alternative Nordic sports. There’s also several anniversaries to look forward to this year, including Courchevel’s 80th anniversary and the 90th anniversary of Val d’Arly’s oldest resort, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe. Cultural events will also take centre stage this season, with Tignes set to host an underwater exhibition beneath a frozen lake. Families continue to be superbly catered for, the season is extending either side into spring and autumn and there’s plenty being put in place to secure the future of the mountains.
