The opening, on 14th January 2015, of the museum of aeronautical, technical and scientific discovery « AEROSCOPIA »: more than a museum, it is a living space and a hub for human interaction!
A space that is alive, passionate and ambitious:
- attract visitors thanks to a priceless aeronautical heritage,
- provide a centre for discovery, wonder and learning, most notably through themed educational zones (e.g. : aeronautical archaeology, interactive voyages, professions linked to aeronautics and airports, how to build and fly an airplane…), activities entitled « Immediate Boarding » based on board a plane or within display zones, a historical fresco (including a braille version!)
- offer a visit that can be combined with visits to the Airbus Toulouse sites (by reservation) that are already provided by Manatour (visit an A380, green visit, panoramic visit…)
- inspire people to take up these vocations.
Based around four « icons » of aeronautical history, Caravelle, Concorde, Super Guppy and Airbus A300B, as well as more than 30 historic craft, Aeroscopia will provide a culturally rich programme: exhibitions, activities, festivals, educational encounters… The new park will be made up of an exhibitions building (5000 m²), a reception block (1000 m²) and an outdoor presentation area = tarmac (4000 m²). Visitors will have access to the 3 life size airplane models that are exhibited inside (Super Guppy, Concorde and A300B) via walkways linked to the historic exhibition gallery. An A400M and an A380 will be displayed on the tarmac in front of the museum (potentially accessible! To be confirmed).
Audio guides will be available (+ possibility of a Visio guide), with commentary that is designed for adults or children, in English / French, as well as German and Spanish from spring 2015.
Please note: sign language visits are available via the audio guide service.
For groups, various themed guided visits are available; in particular, those adapted for schools in a variety of age groups.
The museum visit finishes with a chance to discover the Boutique Aeroscopia (which also stocks items from the Airbus range).
There will not be a restaurant on-site until 2016: Manatour is therefore studying the possibility of placing food trucks in front of Aeroscopia.
